Mother's Day Giveaway #2 - Mama's Magic Studio (Closed)

All mommies are magicians, they can always make us feel better in some magical way. Our featured magician mama today is Jen from Mama's Magic Studio (http://mamasmagicstudio.etsy.com/).  She creates magic with her hands and transform raw materials into beautiful handmade items in her shop! So lets get to know this special etsymom a little more:



Tell us more about your etsy shop, your items or inspirations?

At Mama’s Magic Studio (http://mamasmagicstudio.etsy.com/), I am inspired by the magic that happens in the process of making something by hand. I especially enjoy working with wire and beads, and last year I began working with wood to make handmade knitting needles. My customized bird’s nest pendant designs, which can symbolize family in many ways, were inspired by my own children and my wish to have family jewelry that was understated, beautiful, and durable. My knitting earrings and yarn ball pendants were inspired by my love of knitting. (Though I’m not a good enough knitter yet to offer knit items in my shop!)

Can you share a little about your mother or being a mother yourself?

I have two great kids – a five year old boy and a three year old girl. I have the great good fortune to be able to be at home with them every day. It requires sacrifice, but it’s absolutely worth it. Motherhood is both more challenging and more joyful than I’d ever imagined it would be. It’s the hardest, happiest job I’ve ever had.

Do you have a memorable mother’s day moment?

We don’t really make a big deal about Mother’s Day in our household, but I cherish the everyday moments that are always a part of Mother’s Day -- and many other days at our house! -- handmade cards with crayon scribbles, wildflower bouquets, and lots of hugs.

What are you planning to do on Mother’s Day?

Since my first Mother’s Day in 2005, I’ve marked the day by having a picture taken of me with my family. In previous years, this has been an informal picture in the back yard. This year, I’ve asked my hubby to schedule a session with a “real” photographer. It’s been a while since we had some nice family pictures, so I’m looking forward to that.

What’s the biggest challenge you face being a Mom and an Etsy seller?

Time. Never enough!

What's your giveaway item?

A custom made bird’s nest pendant with one freshwater pearl “egg” – winner’s choice of egg color in blue, pink, or white. Nest can be made in silver or copper color. If winner is interested in a design with more than just one pearl, I would be happy to do that for an additional charge – additional eggs are $4 each, and I can create a design using up to 6 “egg” pearls.
