Welcome Spring Giveaway #3 - Ruby's Slippers

What’s your store name and how long have you been an Etsymom?

My store is Ruby’s Slippers. I am a new Etsymom (just joined in January), and I’m really excited to connect with other crafty mommies!

Tell us something about you, your family, your craft or your store?

I have been sewing since I can remember. I am self-taught. I started by making things for my dolls when I was a child, and then moved through many different outlets over the years. I love to quilt, sew, embroider, knit, screenprint (silkscreen), and make jewelry.

I am lucky to have a loving and supportive husband, who is a great father to our daughter Ruby. He is currently in working on getting his Masters degree in sculpture at IU, and I am lucky to be able to be home with our daughter; madly sewing while she sleeps!

Where do you get your inspirations?

I get my inspiration from my experiences as a mom and from input from friends and family. I strive to make high-quality, comfortable products that are very functional.

What is the first thing you think of when someone said “Spring”?

I think of new grass and flowers, of fresh air and being outside to enjoy it!

Give us some ideas on how to have the most family fun during Spring?

My favorite activities in the Spring are outdoors. It’s so exciting to get to be outside again, that I rarely think of anything else. I like to take picnics to the park, get the bikes out of the garage, and this year I think it would be fun to fly kites with Ruby for the first time!

This is also a great time of the year to start a planter garden. Ruby loves to get her hands dirty, so I’m sure she would love digging holes to plant flowers, vegetables, and herbs. And what is greater for a child than to watch something they planted grow and produce?
