Etsymom Giveaway #8 - HotLavaClothing (Closed)

I came across Hot Lava Clothing while working on the weekly Holiday Gift Guide in December . I selected an item from this store because the dress is so cute and because the picture just made me feel warm (on a very cold day). So I am happy to introduce Hot Lava Clothing again on our Etsymom Blog! Tammy, the store owner, and I have since worked together to help promote each other on Etsy!

Let's tell you more about Tammy and her store:

What’s your store name and how long have you been an Etsymom?


My shop name is Hot Lava Clothing (http://www.etsy.com/shop/HotLavaClothing)
And I’ve been a Etsymom for just a handful of months now.

How did you get started as an artist?

It started about 5 or 6 years ago. My kids are slender and I found it difficult to find clothes that actually fit- for example my 5 yr. old daughter is a combo of a 18mo-2T waist and 5 or 6T length making most “big box” store clothing a difficult fit.

What sets you apart from other people making similar items?

I love vibrant colors and at the same time I’m not a huge fan of a ton of frills. I like clothing to be fun and functional but not too “over the top”. Living and working in Hawaii provides a wonderful setting and atmosphere. What else could be better than tropical breezes, beautiful colors, and the tropical landscape.

What’s your favorite valentine’s item in your store?

Right now I absolutely adore the Red and White Linen Damask print Peasant Top . Linen is such a classic fabric and since its already been pre-washed and dried, meaning that you can wash & dry it as if it were anything else- no special washing instructions.

Give us one tip on how you managed to create/sell/manage your store and at the same time be a busy mom?

My family and 5 kids come first of course however I’ve found that early mornings and nap times work great for me. Somehow and sometimes I’m not sure how but it all works very well together :D
