Etsymom Finds - Sterling!

Start off the new year with something shinny! Here are a few items in sterling silver listed by our Etsymoms:

Timeandsand has beautiful jewelry that are fun, whimsy and elegance! This one featured is one of her "It's Twisted Ring" serie. I love how the wires are interlocking and bend to become this lovely ring. Many of her items are on sale so do take advantage of that!

CBDesignstudio has jewelry to celebrate every mood, every event and every person in your life. Beside the regular jewery items, you will also find key charms, wine charms and even guitar pick at her shop! I picked this item to showcase because it is simple, cute and great for our next big holiday - Valentine's Day.

The "Pea in a Pod" Serie in Onenonly caught my eyes because my friend just had twin girls last month. Each neclace comes with a tag that can be personalized with names. I also like that she has a variety of colors for the peas so you can customize it to your liking. This is a wonderful gift to any expected mom, grandmom, twins or yourself.

Finally, the last item I am featuring is from Jmargot. This Thai Zodiac and birthstone necklace would be wonderful for anyone! She also has some really beautiful long drop earrings made with georgeous rhinestones and lovely designs.

Isn't it time for you to buy something for youself after buying for everyone else last week? Happy new year to you and your family!

The Good Enough Mother

A good enough mother:

-loves her child but not all of his behavior.
-isn't always available to her child whenever he wants her.
-can't possibly prevent all her child's frustrations and moods.
-has needs of her own which may conflict with those of her child.
-loses it sometimes.
-is human and makes mistakes.
-learns from her mistakes.
-uses her own best judgment.

Santa Claus is Coming to Town

Today is Christmas Eve and Santa has probably left his cozy North Pole home to start delivering toys around the world. What's more appropriate than to feature Santa items from our Etsymom team? Here are a few that I picked.

I found this very cute Santa night light at Paulasstressart shop. Your kids will love this night light in their rooms but this is also great for bathroom or even kitchen! While you are looking at this item, check out the rest of her store for over 300 items made out of glass in her home studio.

The second Santa item is from Butterflygem by Alicia. This adorable Santa bracelet is extra special with a touch of Leopard gem. The Santa in the middle is made with Polymer clay and the rest of the bracelet is made with lots of crystals to make it shimmer and sparkle! Alicia's store has many more jewelries to choose from and they can all be made for children or adults.

Every year when I decorate my christmas tree I always want to put on some new ornaments. This next item from Melaniescrafts is just too cute for any christmas tree! Melanie has many more items at her store, from polymer clay ornaments to magnets, pendants and beads. They are all so adorable. I can't stop browsing her store to look at each and every item!

Finally if you like to make your own embroidery, you should stop by DBembroideryDesigns too see her huge selection of various designs. Her I Love Santa Applique Design as pictured is very easy to make. Instructions are included.  She is also having a special for free design with purchase.

I know each of you deserve a visit from Santa for being a wonderful mom and a hardworking artist! Enjoy your time with your family! Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday to all of our Etsymoms!

Seeing Red

With Christmas around the corner I wanted to do this Friday's finds with Christmas inspired items, specifically red.

The first featured mom is http://www.fategoddess.etsy.com/. I loved the idea of these so much I purchased a pair for my little one. I already have a set of these that we use for arm warmers and they work out great. For me she is in a dance classs that she has to wear tights. Sorry, but tights just aren't warm enough in 20 degree weather. Also keep in mind that she has free shipping until the beginning of the year.

My second featured mom is http://www.zozobugbaby.etsy.com/. I love this dress, but I also adore the model. I think this dress is super cute, and I especially love the little bird in the bottom corner. Check out her shop for lots of great dresses and accessories.

And last I am featuring something warm and fuzzy for us adults. The shop is http://www.seahorsedesigns.etsy.com/. She is also a fellow member of my EtsyNJ group. I love fingerless gloves. I have tried a few patterns myself and have not made a pair to my liking. These look great! They are red (first and foremost), and made from a soft acrylic yarn. She too is running this item at no shipping so you can't beat the deal.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to view the blog. I haven't heard from anyone with any ideas for a giveaway, so I guess no one is up for it. Oh well, maybe next year I will give more notice than a week before Christmas :)

Etsymoms Gift Guide - Think Green!

This holiday season why not give something that you will feel good giving while the recipient will feel good using? There are quite a few etsymoms that sell eco-friendly items that would be great holiday gifts.  Here are a few that I found:

Babiesmomma has a wide selection of products like blanket, nursing covers and aprons. But what caught my eyes are the eco-friendly coffee cup reusable sleeves that are made with fun and beautiful fabrics. She is even taking custom order if you have a specific print in mind.

Whenever I go out with my kids I always like to pack a couple snack bags in case the kids get hungry. Boogaboobabies has the perfect eco-friendly reusable snack bags great for outings with the kids. These bags come in different sizes and patterns that your kids will love. All of them are washable and reusable which are wonderful for our enviornment.

Looking for ways to store the plastic bags that you get from grocery stores so you can reuse them? Oursideofthemountain has just the solution for you. These plastic bag holder would be a nice way to store all of the plastic bags that you plan to reuse. They can be hang up too to save your cabinet space.

We can all do our share, big or small, so that our kids can continue to enjoy our beautiful planet. So go GREEN!

EtsyMoms Gift Guide - Toys

Every holiday I try to find the right toy. You know, something fun, but not dangerous, or not out of her age group. Here are a few I found from other Etsy moms, that for me fit all the criteria.

The first featured mom is http://www.zuzugirl.etsy.com/. I love her shop!!! It is full of fun things for that special girly girl in your life. The specific item I am in love with is her magic wands. The are pretty and fun and don't have any particular princess in mind (so you don't have to buy Disney). I like this one in white, because it matches every princess dress. The also have a bell (so you know when she's coming). Please take time to check out her shop, she has lots of other items as well. I saw some really adorable hair bows and princess crowns mixed in there too.

The second featured mom is www.prettylizzylu.etsy.com. I really enjoyed the stuffed animals. She has a few to choose from, but all are especially kid friendly. The have no buttons or items that could be pulled off or eaten, which is always a big plus to me. I chose the bunny because I love the colors, but she also have a squid that would be perfect for any little boy.

My third featured mom is www.thelittlelovebug.etsy.com. I love this idea. They are pretend cookies. Her store is all about pretend, and I was always a fan of the land of make believe (I may still enter it from time to time). She has all sorts of felt foods. I am showing the cookies, but she also has chips and even beverages out of felt.

Please take some time to check out these, and all, of the EtsyMoms shops. There are lots of great ideas out there.

Also, on a side note, we are trying to do a team wide giveaway. I would love to get at least 10 moms willing to donate some items so we could do a big Christmas giveaway. I already have one mom signed up, but if anyone else is interested please send me a note at hsue114@aol.com or convo my shop on Etsy.

Etsymom Gift Guide - Featuring a few of our new members

We were all there once...a new seller looking for ways to increase exposure and make some sales. So for today's gift guide I will be featuring a few of our newest Etsymoms. Hopefully this will drive more traffic to their stores. Etsymoms, head over to their stores and show them some love!

The first store is AlexKelly Jewelry which has contemporary, sophisticated designs that are one-of-a-kind. I particularly liked the Pinot Noir Necklace (just from the name alone!). She is working on a new line so make sure you check back often to see what's new.

The weather is getting so cold lately (yes even in So Cal which is where I am) so it was refreshing to see Tammy's store HotLavaClothing. She has very cute tops and dresses for girls and nice shorts for boys. Her items are all limited in quantity to keep every piece special. Just visiting her store made me feel warmer already!

Eurolenscape, our next new etsymom, has a shop with very pretty cards, for christmas or just for a simple greeting. Each photo on the card is reusable and suitable for framing. So by sending her card to someone special you are not only sending a greeting, you are also sending a gift! She is offering free shipping on many of her items so do take advantage of that.

Jewelry is always a hot holiday gift item. SimplyUniqueKreation has jewelries that are simply...unique! She has a lot of special going on. A holiday sale with15% off all item, free shipping on any purchase (everyone likes free shipping!) and free gift wraping also! She definitely made it easy for us to send a gift this holiday.

The final store on today's gift guide is AliceInTheAttic. She has a wide variety of items in her shop. What I like the most are her Japanese hair ornaments, Kanzashi, which are hair ornaments that are worn by Geisha, Maiko and brides. The ornaments are made from silk and decorated with beads, pearls and bells. Each silk petal is folded by hand, glued and assembled to form a single bloom. This would be a very special holiday gift!

Finaly, I want to extend a warm welcome to all of the new etsymoms and wish them good luck with their store!

EtsyMoms Holiday Gift Guides

Hi fellow moms. My gift guide is all jewelry. I don't know about you, but I think jewelry is always a great gift, especially handmade. It can always be done custom, just for that person. These are the EtsyMoms that I found for some great jewelry.

The first artist is http://www.poorrobin.etsy.com/. You may have seen her advertisements on craftcult (I know I have, and subsequently checked out her shop). She has some really creative and beautiful pieces of jewelry out of felt and buttons. This is a photo of one of her button pendants, but she has some really awesom button bracelets as well.

My second artist is http://www.gemmabeads.etsy.com/. I have to admit I am a fan of the typewriter key jewelry. She has some other interesting pieces in her shop as well, but these are what always catch my eye. I chose this piece for it's simplicity. I am not one to were huge pieces, but this is right up my alley. Also, this particular one is a rare find, and I admit I have never seen this key (although I've never seen a British typewriter either), so to me it makes it all the more interesting.

My third artist is http://www.hotpinkchick.etsy.com/. She also has some really pretty pieces, but these are, at least to me, the most ideal gift. I always love color, but you never know what someone else will like. First of all, black goes with everything, and second when you have all these parties for Christmas and New Years that little black dress will really sparkle.
So I hope everyone enjoys my choices and I'm sure the artists would love any comments you have to make.
